Once lynx roamed all over the forests of Europe. Today it is an endangered species. Persecuted and misunderstood - this, the biggest wild cat of Europe - now struggles to survive in just a few areas.

In Scandinavia the population is the strongest and in general the numbers have increased in recent years. This in turn has sparked fear and anger. Farmers are afraid their livelihoods are in jeopardy, even though biological research shows that the lynx do not prefer sheep even when they are readily available. Hunters argue the lynx is an unwanted competitor for limited populations of prey.

In this in-depth story of the lynx's secret life, intimate details are revealed about this illusive wild cat of the European forests.
